Developed by Simple Machine, King Solitaire is a slick, simple, stunning update to classic solitaire. For King Solitaire, I made a number of color schemes and themes for a large update to the game. My first project at Simple Machine, creating the themes challenged my pre-conceived notions of color and my ability to adapt to a mobile interface. Below you will find a selection of my themes, all available now as a free update to King Solitaire on the App Store and Google play.
Fire
The Fire theme was available as part of a promotion for visiting the 4 Thrones Physical Deck Kickstarter page.
My inspiration for the theme revolved around the idea of a campfire, hence the wood and fire images.
Beach
The Beach theme was the first one I worked on during this project. Originally, I used an Umbrella and wave to represent a day in the sand.
In the end, we felt that the more amorphous wave-like shapes aligned better with the minimalist approach 4 Thrones takes.
50 Shades
The 50 Shades theme originally started as a Pirate theme with a rotating X and eyepatch but was converted to a more simple theme with 50 Shades.
Mountain
The Mountain theme is a combination of earthy and snow-topped Alps. For the color scheme I took inspiration from the mountains of Spearmint Gum.
